PNG minister charged with attempted murder

Papua New Guinea's Culture and Tourism Minister has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.Minister Guma Wau was arrested and detained for an hour before he was released on bail.
Police in the PNG highlands says he was questioned in relation to the shooting of a 50 year old man in June.
They have confiscated his licensed pistol, which was allegedly used in the attempted murder.
PNG's The National newspaper says Guma Wau has admitted to the alleged shooting of a man during police interrogation.
On June 13, Guma Wau, before his appointment as minister, was driving to Kerowagi District in Simbu province when local tribesman blocked the road and a confrontation ensued.
He allegedly opened fire to dispel the crowd, when a stray bullet hit John Agaundo.
